Ferrous Casting Manufacturers Featuring Properties Of Gray CI Castings

Iron metal or ferrous castings manufacturers and foundries are making gray cast iron castings at vast scale. They are producing gray CI castings by melting pig iron and shaping it into desired molds to form distinct components range. Gray cast iron is an alloy of iron and carbon that also has little amount of phosphorous, silicon, sulfur, and manganese. It is the ability of the material to form complex structures and inexpensiveness that make gray CI castings so popular.

Further, ferrous casting manufacturing units are going to share some important properties of ferrous gray iron castings.

  •  High compressive strength
It is defined by the endurance of any alloy or metal to manage its compressive forces. The compressive strength of gray CI castings is generally high and this is why, it is widely used in columns and posts of buildings.
  • Tensile strength
CI castings and ferrous casting manufacturers are making distinct ranges using different varieties of gray iron. The tensile strength generally varies and some varieties of gray iron have 5 tons/ sq inch tensile strength. On an average, these materials have 7 tons/ sq inch tensile strength; but manufacturers at times use vanadium to increase its strength.
  • Low melting point
Gray cast iron material doesn't take much time to melt. It has low melting point that ranges- 1140°C to 1200°C.
  • Resistance to deformation
These materials are resistant to deformation and are hard in texture. Gray castings offer a rigid frame to the user; however, if the built is poor, no one can stop gray cast iron castings to breakdown.

Different Classes Of Gray CI Castings And Their Uses
  1. Class 100 and class 150- This gray iron type is used for making protective covers, cover body, hand wheels, frame, handle, floor, hammer, bearing, bench, pipe, valves, bed, etc.
  2. Class 200 and class 250- Manufacturers using this gray iron type for producing cylinder, gear, bed, flywheel, cylinder block, brake wheel, pressure valve, pistons, coupling plate, cylinder liners, etc.
  3. Class 300 gray iron- ferrous castings manufacturers using class 300 gray iron for building heavy duty machine tools, presses, frame, gears, high pressure hydraulic parts, piston rings, crankshaft, cylinder head, cylinder block, bed, cams, etc.
You can avail all of these ranges from CI casting manufacturers at affordable price. These manufacturers offer quality and precision ferrous castings across the globe.
